Arashi (Ash) Nakashima is a third-year anatomic pathology resident and Master of Science student at the University of Connecticut and Connecticut Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (CVMDL). His training emphasizes high-volume diagnostic pathology service and research focused on infectious diseases and comparative pathology.
His primary interest is diagnostic pathology, with a particular focus on wildlife, exotic, and aquatic animals. Ash has presented his work at national and international conferences and is also deeply engaged in teaching, having instructed undergraduate laboratory sections in systems pathophysiology and anatomy and physiology. His long-term goal is to integrate diagnostic pathology and teaching in an academic or diagnostic laboratory setting. Outside of education and research, Ash enjoys golf, video games, running, and cooking, and he has been craving the chance to adopt a cat—still waiting for the right opportunity!
