Emilie Karovic is a PhD student in Dr. Wunder’s research laboratory studying the pathogenesis of the spirochete Leptospira, the causative agent of leptospirosis. She is currently investigating host-pathogen interactions and host cell barrier penetration utilizing in vitro models and RNA-seq. Outside of academics and research, Emilie enjoys taking care of her many plants (41 and counting!), trying new recipes, working out, and spending time outdoors.
