Sungjun An is a Ph.D. student in Dr. Paulo H. Verardi’s laboratory, where his research focuses on developing inducible Vaccinia Virus-vectored vaccines against Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome Virus (SFTSV) and Heartland Virus (HRTV). He is actively constructing vaccine candidates, investigating their immunogenicity, establishing relevant animal models, and evaluating vaccine efficacy. Sungjun’s research aims to advance public health and mitigate the risks of vector-borne viral disease transmitted by arthropods. Outside of his academic and laboratory commitments, Sungjun enjoys playing tennis.
