PATHO•BIOLOGY Advising

Undergraduate Academic Advisor Team:

Transfer Courses from Other Institutions

Students should review their Transfer Credit Report to confirm how courses from other institutions have been evaluated.

Within the Transfer Credit Report, Transfer Admissions counselors typically note where students should submit any requests for course equivalencies using the Transfer Credit Re-Evaluation process. For example, all Biology course evaluations must be submitted through their Transfer Credit Re-Evaluation form (scroll to the bottom of the page). For most other courses, students are asked to send course syllabi directly to designated faculty reviewers within the appropriate academic department.

ECE Credits (Non-Degree Decisions):

  • Decision access: Log in to Nexus (https://nexus.uconn.edu/nondegree_decisions.php) to accept or reject
  • Deadline: January 27, 2026 (decisions cannot be changed after the deadline)
  • Accepted non-degree courses count toward a student’s cumulative GPA
  • Unaccepted courses will not meet requirements (or fulfill prerequisites without instructor consent)
  • For CAHNR (i.e., PATH students):
    • Any passing grade is acceptable but not necessarily recommended (e.g., D+ = 1.3 grade points)
    • If no decision is submitted, courses with a grade of C (2.0 grade points) or better are automatically added and will affect GPA
  • Classes are added to transcript about one month into the following semester (fall acceptances appear on transcripts in mid-February)

AP vs ECE Credit:

  • AP exam credit is not considered non-degree coursework
  • Students cannot receive credit for the same course twice
  • If AP credit is already on a student’s UConn transcript and the student accepts ECE or non-degree credit, the ECE or non-degree grade will count toward the GPA
  • If the non-degree credit is rejected, only the AP credit will apply without a course grade, and the GPA will not be affected
  • Note that AP and ECE credits accepted by UConn may fulfill prerequisites for many professional programs (but not all)
    • Consult our specific program sites such as PATH•2•MED or PATH•2•VET for details

Course Withdraw or Pass/Fail Option:

  • The deadline to withdraw from a course (after the second week of classes) or to change a course to/from Pass/Fail grading typically falls in mid-November (Fall) or mid-April (Spring). For exact dates, please refer to the Academic Calendar.
  • Requests must be submitted through the Student Enrollment Request Form (not through Student Admin).
  • Important Notes:
    • Changing grading options or withdrawing from a course may affect financial aid (consult One Stop Student Services), academic progress (consult with your academic advisor), athletics eligibility (consult with your SASP Advisor), military benefits (consult with VAMP), or visa status (consult with ISSS Advisor).
    • No student is permitted to drop a course after the eleventh week of classes or to drop more than one course after the first 10 days of classes unless, on the recommendation of the advisor, an exception is made by the CAHNR Associate Dean for Academic Programs.
    • Students on academic probation are not eligible for Pass/Fail grading.
